06/24/11 - One Year Ago In Pictures

This day was super exciting for me! During our morning visit, I got to change Lauren's diaper for the 1st time. Her nurse, Ray, helped me out and taught me how to change her diaper. Since Lauren's legs were small, changing her diaper was a little different than usual, plus she was still connected to her tubes and in her bed. Then during our night visit, Lauren's primary nurse, Monique, let me hold her for the 1st time. I was just so, so happy! I held her for our entire visit and did not want to put her back in her bed at the end of the night. <3

I don't have any pictures of Lauren on this day. :(  This was the day she had to get a blood transfusion and the entry point was on the side of her head. Because they did that, she got her 1st haircut on this day! They gave me a little piece of her hair, something I cherish, and am so glad that I have. Also on this day, we walked in and her nurse printed out a cute little name tag for her!

We got a lot of good pictures on this day at the hospital. Vicky came to meet with us again. In one of the pictures, my husband's eyes look all crazy, but I still keep it because it is one more picture of us together! I really love the picture of Halley reading to Lauren. She would bring a couple of books each day, get a little step stool, and read to Lauren every morning. It was the sweetest thing I have ever witnessed.

06/21/11 - One Year Ago In Pictures

Cook Children's has a Build-A-Bear Workshop inside their hospital. Build-A-Bear is literally one of Halley's favorite places.. she has about 15 bears she made from there! Halley really wanted to make one for Lauren to have, so we let her on this date last year. We put a heart from each of us inside her bear, we picked out her dress, her bear says "I Love You" whenever you touch her hand, and we chose the name Hope. This was Lauren's Hope Bear. We planned on leaving it by her bedside so she would always have us near, and it stayed her entire hospital stay. Cooks also has a child life department, and one of Lauren's nurses called one for us to meet with, when she saw Halley was visiting. This was actually the 1st day Halley got to meet Lauren, so this was an extra special day. It turned out that the lady we met with was named Vicky, which was also my mother's name (spelt differently). I knew that was a sign that my mother was at the hosiptal with me that day; It actually brightened my day a little. (If you look closely you can see that I was crying that day, because the doctor had not said very good things that morning.) Also that morning, Lauren had a lot of visitors. Brandon's parents and my sisters got to visit Lauren. (Not for the 1st time, but the 1st time at Cooks). Brandon's parents left before we met with Vicky, but my sisters were still around, so Vicky went back down stairs, got her camera, and took a ton of photos for us. At the time I did not know how precious they would be to me. I love that she captured Halley's huge smile while being with her sister, and also took photos of Lauren's Hope Bear, and all of them together. I love that she was there for us that day, so we would have photos to remember that bond that Halley and Lauren had. I love both my girls and wish I had them both at home with me.

June 20th last year was transfer day! The first few pictures are of us at MCA. The second picture I took while I was sitting in the rocking chair and got to enjoy watching their Daddy & Daughter time.  We took pictures of the Teddy Bear Transport team from Cooks, when they came to get Lauren. The last two sets of pictures look very similar, but they are different, you just have to look closely to tell the different angles. I just like to know that I do have pictures of her, even if alot of them are somewhat the same. I know there are alot of people that don't like taking pictures of their children in the NICU, or if they do, they do not like to show them. We did because we wanted to make sure we had every picture we could get of her and we thought we would be able to show her what she went through to become a healthy little girl. That isn't the case, but I am so glad we took pictures of her almost every single day. The last two pictures of Lauren in her new spot after they got her all settled in to her bed at Cooks. I remember posting this picture and saying she looked so peaceful and comfortable there!

06/19/11 - One Year Ago In Pictures

My Baby Girl got to wear her 1st bow! It was attached to her hat, but it was just too adorable. She loved her little bed too! She didn't always sleep with it, but when she did, you could tell she enjoyed it.

Oh, how I miss her. :/ I am just so sad. I went to visit her again today. I just still cannot believe one year ago I was looking at her, and today I am not. </3
